How to Save at CVS
CVS is one of my favorite stores to shop and there are so many ways to save. Here are some that you may already be using and some you may not know about.
If you want to take advantage of the great deals at CVS, the first thing you have to do is get your ExtraCare card. This is the card that gives you access to all the ways to save. It’s easy to sign up for and it’s free! Just tell a cashier at the store that you want the card or you can sign up online at cvs.com. There may even be a surprise for signing up online!
CVS sales run from Sunday to Saturday. The ad most usually is included with your area’s Sunday paper. If you don’t get the paper, you can always pick up the latest ad at the store. If you want a look at the deals before you head out to the store, you can find them on the web at cvs.com in a special section called My Weekly Ad. If you register on the site and connect your ExtraCare card, this section is personalized just for you and your store. What I especially like about this addition to the site is that they show you exactly what items are included in every deal.
I love ExtraBucks! When you make a required purchase, ExtraBucks print out on the bottom of your receipt. ExtraBucks are money that you can use on future purchases at CVS. These do have expiration dates but, depending on your store, you may be able to use them after the expiration date. Find out what the ExtraBuck deals are for the week by checking your ad or online at cvs.com. ExtraBucks can be used in combination with manufacture and store coupons.
This is another favorite of mine! The first thing I do when I go into my CVS store is go to the Coupon Machine, scan my ExtraCare Card and get my coupons. These coupons give you a variety of savings. Sometimes it’s a dollar amount off a certain purchase (i.e. $2 off haircare purchase) or a percentage of the price of a product (i.e. 20% off Jergen’s Body Lotion). These coupons can be on a specific brand or they can be for any brand. The coupons from the coupon machine can be stacked with manufacture coupons.
This is an avenue for savings that is often overlooked. It’s easy. It’s free. And it gives you $5 back on every $50 spent on beauty products. This includes a variety of items such as cosmetics, skin care and hair care. When the required purchase has been made, your $5 coupon prints out at the coupon machine or on the bottom of your receipt.
If you connect an email address to your ExtraCare card number you could be one of the lucky customers to receive coupons in your inbox. Sometimes these are a percentage off your entire purchase and sometimes it’s a dollar amount off a certain purchase amount (i.e. $5 off a $20 purchase). These email coupons can be used in addition to manufacture coupons and some store coupons and can make for some unbelievable deals!
It’s almost the end of the second quarter! Which means, I’ll be getting my quarterly bonus soon! That’s 2% of the total amount that I’ve spent at CVS this quarter. If you have an ExtraCare card and you use it every time you make a purchase, you get this bonus automatically. Like the Beauty Club bonus, the quarterly bonus prints at the coupon machine or on the bottom of your receipt.
Update: New way to Save at CVS
I am so excited about this new way to save at CVS! If you don’t have the CVS app on your smartphone, download it ASAP! They have always had great ways to save, but now they have ‘app only savings’. Once you’ve opened your app and linked your ExtraCare card, all you have to do is tap ‘Show Card and Deals’. Scroll through the deals and look for ‘AppOnly’. When you find a deal you like, just tap ‘Send to Card’. That’s all there is to it. The savings will come off automatically at the register.
